Turnip and Rutabaga Gratin

Turnip and rutabaga gratin with a twist. Happy thanksgiving eve everyone I hope you are feeling amazing and getting ready for the big day. This gratin is packed with fun and flavor from one of my favorite spices harissa. Only 5 ingredients and so easy to make. If you need a last minute side dish this is it.

If you haven’t tried turnips or rutabagas before you are in for a treat. They are one of the first vegetables I ever ate and absolutely love them. Turnips are a little sweet and earthy, where as rutabagas are buttery with a sweet- savory flavor. They are a perfect change up to the regular potato.

To make the perfect gratin you want to slice the vegetables paper thin and layer them close together so they not only soften but also caramelize all those natural sugars to pure deliciousness. Serve with all your turkey fixings and possibly introduce new vegetables to the table!
