Make Ahead Instant Oatmeal Mix

Make ahead Oatmeal Jars! Simple and so easy to make move over Quaker…. Make these and you save time, money and get more healthy nutrients into your diet!

Oatmeal is a go to breakfast for so many of us, especially those store bought packets that you can cook in the microwave. While they are super convenient they are loaded with added sugar, gums and oils that our not ideal for our bodies. Hence how I came up with this idea for making your own. It’s so simple and the best part is you can switch up the flavors and add ins the whole family will love.

For oats I highly recommend getting these gluten free sprouted oats. Why sprouted Oats? they contain no glyphosate and are easier to digest for our guts. Making them more nutrient dense and give more fiber than the traditional which we all know we need as much fiber in our diets as possible.

When it comes to flavors the opportunities are endless. All you need for the base of these mixes is 1/3 cup oats, 1 tbsp flax, chia or hemp seeds, 1 tsp coconut sugar and 1/4 cup of your favorite mix ins. Everything from shredded coconut, cacao nibs, chopped nuts and seeds and small amount of dried fruit. Place into jars and keep in the pantry for up to 1 month or more.

When ready to eat heat up 1 cup of your favorite milk or water and cook for 3-5 minutes and top with some fresh berries and nut butter or have it any way you love. I also love to add in some veggies like riced cauliflower or squash and even cabbage. The more veggies in the day the better!

Another bonus to making these yourself is you are reducing waste and saving money! Great for on the go or a quick and easy breakfast with the family.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/3 cup oats
  • 1 tbsp flax chia or hemp seeds
  • 1 tsp coconut sugar or date sugar
  • 1 tbsp dried fruit – optional
  • 1/4 cup favorite mix ins coconut flakes, cacao nibs, chopped nuts etc

Instructions
 

  • Mix all together and store in jars they last in the pantry for a month! 
    When ready to make heat up one cup of water or nut milk add in oat mixture and cook 3-4 minutes and top with your favorite nut butter or fresh fruit.
